It's all going on in October.
It's the month of Deepavali, also known as Diwali and the Festival of Lights. Deepavali is the most festive holiday of the year for Hindus. It’s an official public holiday in many countries with significant Hindu populations, including Malaysia. We plan to hold two events to celebrate Deepavali.
On the 12th October, our coffee morning at the clubhouse will be combined with an informative talk on the origins and traditions of Deepavali/Diwali/Festival of Lights.
Then on 19th October, our monthly lunch will be held at Passions of Kerala, adjacent to New World Park in Georgetown.
The choir will be starting up again this month and will be meeting every Tuesday. Our choir is well known for its annual round of charity visits at Christmas and will be exercising its collective vocal chords at rehearsals in the lead up to December.
Workshop-wise, on the 15th October you can come along and learn how to make your own unique lipsticks.
Following onto the Christmas theme (there's always some festival going on here in Penang), there'll be a couple of workshops in November for making resin decorations for trees and tables and for creating beautiful festive door wreaths, so keep a look out for those.
