Frances Pinsler Wilks

I have been a member of the IWA for more than 15 years and served in several board positions, including a stint as editor of the old printed version of the magazine Expressions about a decade back. I was delighted to be co-opted to the committee early in 2024 to help out, and brought my idea of reviving the magazine as New Expressions, but in digital format this time.

I have also worked for the Expat magazine for some years before I retired and enjoy writing about the diverse charms of Penang and its people.

Community is very important. For me, the IWA is about meeting people from all walks of life, exchanging ideas and, above all, learning about new things. I also feel that it’s important to support the women of Penang who may not be as privileged or in as comfortable a situation as many of us. The IWA can do a lot of good for both its members and the wider community.
